Who needs an HUT

• You offer short-term stays to tourists
• You advertise on platforms such as Airbnb, Booking, or Vrbo

Even occasional tourist rentals can require registration, and in some cities (like Barcelona), new licences may be restricted or frozen.

What an HUT number looks like

An HUT registration number usually looks like:

Where:

• HUT = Habitatge d'Us Turistic
• The letter often relates to the province (e.g. B for Barcelona)
• The digits are your unique registration number

This number must normally appear on:

• Online listings
• Advertisements
• Rental platforms

What registering involves

Registration is handled at municipal level and then recorded in the Catalan tourism register.

The process typically includes:

• Declaring the property and its capacity
• Confirming compliance with safety and habitability rules
• Providing ownership or usage rights

What the HUT is not

It is not:

• A tax registration
• An AEAT number
• The same as Spain's national NRA rental registration

You may still also need:

• NRA — national rental registration
• Modelo 210 — tax filings on rental income
